A Jeanne Lanvin couture sequined black crêpe evening gown, Autumn-Winter 1944-45. large woven label with date stamp, no 6429, with graduated scrolling sequin curlicues from wide shoulders to waist, pockets and waist pendant, detachable pink satin neck edging; a sequined moss crêpe belt together with a Paquin satin reticule with bobble fringe edging, bust 102cm, 40in, waist 76cm, 30in (qty) Provenance: Lucie Caffaret, a stylish and celebrated concert pianist who was also music teacher to Jeanne Lanvin's daughter, Marguerite. This gown is from the first collection after the liberation of Paris, which was one of the last collections designed by Madame Lanvin herself as she died the following year.
